What's Good, Atlanta? October Event Schedule
So two of the weekend's best bets - Afropunk and Flux Night - have officially been cancelled and postponed, respectively, due to weather. Apparently no one wants to replicate the muddy shitshow that was TomorrowWorld. Yas, Joaquin.
Despite the setbacks, there are plenty of other promising events happening this weekend and the entire month. Check out our top picks for the month of October, and be sure to bookmark our Calendar page for updates on all the hottest shit to do in ATL!
If you have any suggestions for upcoming events to add to the calendar, email us at wussymag@gmail.com with all the info!

If you like pop music, drink specials, and think it's time that the womyn of ATL take back The Heretic, join us!
October 4 - Queer Moxie @ Out on Film Festival
Out on Film runs for a whole week at the Midtown Art Cinema, but you only have one chance to see the film we are most excited about: Queer Moxie. QM is a feature length documentary exploring the blooming queer performance art scene in Atlanta. Check out our interview with co-directors Leo Hollen Jr. and Heather Provoncha. Showtime: 3pm
October 5 - Deathwatch & The Maids Double Feature @ Big House on Ponce
Two rotating productions of Jean Genet's classic French thrillers, Deathwatch and The Maids will be running from October 1-10. One performance will feature an all "male" cast playing female characters, and the other featuring an all "female" cast playing male characters. We recommend checking out the one-night-only double feature on October 5th! Reserve your seats in advance, and pay what you can! Check out the event page for more information.
October 9 - Quaint Peche @ Mammal Gallery
As part of Atlanta Celebrates Photography, Quaint Peche is described as a "Collective Queer Exposé", showcasing photographic work by Erin Branch, Patrick Di Rito, Kyle Henderson, Andrew Sisk, and Taylor McCormick. The opening reception starts at 7pm, and we know these young artists are going to display some fabulous work.

October 10 - Flock of Eagles Pride Party @ Atlanta Eagle
DJ Vicki Powell of Church’s famed Sunday Service dance party has assembled a kick-ass line up of nationally recognized DJ’s, go-gos, entertainers, adult film stars, and local activists to invade the Eagle for what is sure to be a really long and boozy Pride night. This is event is free and open to the public, ages 21 and older.
October 18 - AIDS Walk Atlanta @ Piedmont Park
Now commemorating 25 years, AIDS Walk is the perfect way to get involved, active, and continue the effort of raising much-needed funds for AIDS-service organizations in the metro-ATL area. Every year this event brings together different parts of the community to support those infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS. If you are unable to attend, please consider donating to the cause.
October 24 - WackedOutBlackOut @ Jungle Atlanta
One of our favorite Atlanta promoters, Barry Brandon, is back with another edition of #WOBO. The premise is this - they provide the glow paint, and your ass is the canvas. So leave your clothes at the door and don't try using the paint as lube. Did we mention performances by the fucking fierce Michael Robinson and Brigitte Bidet?
October 31 - Legendary Children: SHALLOWEEN @ The Heretic
We may be biased, but this is going to be the most promising Halloween event of the season! QueerATL always displays an array of epic lewks for these parties, so we know the costume contest is going to slay. Hosted by Atlanta's most legendary witch baby, Lavonia Elberton, and featuring Katya Zamolodchikova from Rupaul's Drag Race - the night will be DJed by King Atlas and DJ MALE. Tickets available here!
