What's Good, Atlanta? November Edition!

Halloween and many of the city’s most popular festivals have ended – so what the hell is going on in November? Wussy Mag is sponsoring two events this month, plus we’ve got the return of Flux Night and a fundraiser for Atlanta Zine Fest to look forward to!

Check out our top picks for the month of November, and be sure to bookmark our Calendar page for updates on all the hottest shit to do in ATL! If you have any suggestions for upcoming events to add to the calendar, email us at wussymag@gmail.com with all the info!

November 6 – Powder Room: Pink and Dirty @ The Heretic

Queer powerhouses, Zaida J. (Cayenne Rouge) and DJ Ree dela Vega are back for a Creative Loafing ATL + Wussy Mag dance party celebrating all things femme. This month the girls are joined by DJ BlackboxDisco (Noni’s) and Electrobixx. Burlesque beauty, Ada Manzhart, and drag vixen, Biqtch Puddin’ will take the stage later in the evening. Cover is only $5 all night with drink specials to boot! We recommend you try the Barbie’s Bathwater.

November 7 – Flux Night 2015: “DREAM” @ Old Fourth Ward

Remember last month when we told you this epic event was postponed due to rain? Fortunately for us, Flux is back and we are crossing our fingers and toes that Joaquin is gone for good! Flux is a night where art and technology intersect for one giant celebration of expression. This year, the festival is curated by Nato Thompson (Creative Time) and features work by artists like Sheila Pree Bright, Yoko Ono, and Pedro Reyes.

November 14 – “Paris is Burning” Screening @ Plaza Theater

This month we have teamed up with Scoutmob ATL and local studmuffin Bill Kaelin Marketing to serve you a Rocky Horror-style screening of Paris is Burning. If you don’t know what that is, get ready for a queer herstory lesson full of performances, a pre-show discussion, and maybe even a vogue-off. The category is “Butch Queen” and your hosts Ellisorous Rex, Taylor Alxndr, Micky Bee, and Brigitte Bidet will make sure the library never closes. Get your tickets HERE before they sell out!

November 19 – U.S. GIRLS w/ Suno Desko & Anticipation @ 529

C’mon music scene! Sometimes after a long night at Mary’s in East Atlanta Village, we like to stumble into 529 looking for trade but on this night, we urge you to check out the amazing musical talents of U.S. Girls, Suno Deko, and Anticipation. If you’re into all things dreamy and electronic, these bands will not disappoint.

November 20 - Printed Matter: Fundraiser for ATL Zine Fest @ 100 Broad Street

It’s not surprise that the Atlanta Zine Fest is one of our favorite annual events. For their fourth annual fundraising event, they are promising a diverse array of zines from artists like Allie Bashuk, Priscilla Smith, Lindsay Smith, and our Wussy contributor, Sunni Johnson. All zines will be under $10, so go out and support AZF and they raise money for the 2016 festival! You may even find a Wussy Mag zine available in there.

November 27 – The Other Show: 90’s Edition @ Jungle Atlanta

You know we love a good theme! Once a month the Other Show girls bring us a special themed night of mayhem dressed in drag. Hosted by the illustrious Edie Cheezburger, The Other Show just recently celebrated their 3rd year anniversary and the girls show no sign of slowing down. Starring Biqtch Puddin', Delerea Dae, Edie Cheezburger, Evah Destruction, Jaye Lish and Kryean Kally!
