Pride Month just got gay gay gayer!

Tales of the City is returning to television this June, this time on Netflix, with Laura Linney reprising her role as the lead Mary Ann Singleton. Netflix just released a promising teaser for the limited series, promising plenty of queer joy and gut wrenching moments.

Ellen Page (Gaycation, The Umbrella Academy) will portray Shawna, Mary Ann’s daughter, while Murray Bartlett (Looking) will portray Michael ‘Mouse’ Tolliver. The new teaser also features quick cameos by some of our Drag Race favs like Bob the Drag Queen and Katya.

Tales is a continuation of the classic novels and subsequent PBS and Showtime miniseries by queer American author, Armistead Maupin. The novels follow Mary Ann through a series of San Francisco adventures, with all of its colorful characters and a swarm of friends and lovers. Maupin and Linney will serve as Executive Producers on the new series.

“I couldn’t be more excited about this new brand-new incarnation of Tales,” said Maupin in a released statement. “It’s set in present-day San Francisco with all the joys and complications that might suggest for the residents of 28 Barbary Lane. Mrs. Madrigal’s tenants, both old and new, will be entangled in delicious new adventures and ever-expanding possibilities for love.”

Pass the tissues — Tales of the City premieres June 7th on Netflix.
