RuPaul's new daytime talk show premieres this June

It’s been over 20 years since the original “The RuPaul Show” aired on VH1, revolutionizing the possibilities of queer visibility on TV. I remember obsessively watching the show as a pre-teen during its two year run, completely bewildered and amazed by what I was seeing. Drag glamour, male dancers, and great musical guests converged into mostly messy and fabulous fun.

Fox just announced this morning that Ru will return to daytime talk show television, hosting “RuPaul” for a 3-week limited run on the major network. Frequent collaborators and World of Wonder heads Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato and Tom Campbell will serve as executive producers alongside Jill Van Lokeren, from “The Oprah Winfrey Show”.

RuPaul’s got several more projects in the works, including starring in “Aj and the Queen” with showrunner Michael Patrick King at Netflix. Other projects include a biopic at Hulu, serving as a judge on “The World’s Best” at CBS, and of course our beloved “Drag Race” at VH1. low down, girl!

“Now more than ever before we need a global voice that will help everyday people navigate this unique time in history,” said RuPaul in a released statement. “Not only do I want to be a part of that conversation, I want to help facilitate it.”

Hopefully this limited run turns out to be a successful test run and “RuPaul” sticks around long after the premiere on June 10th at Fox!
