Hulu Breaks New Queer Ground with The Bisexual

TEREZA CERVENOVA || CHANNEL 4

Desiree Akhavan, winner of this year’s Grand Jury Prize at Sundance for The Miseducation of Cameron Post, is back with some premiere, quality queer content for Hulu and Channel 4. Akhavan also stars, writes, and directs in The Bisexual, which follows a group of Queer 30-somethings navigating life in New York.

Sure, the world didn’t ask for a queer version of Girls but we are gonna get it.

As Queer narratives are becoming more prevalent on TV, bisexual representation is still glaringly sparse. Oh sure, there’s the occasional queer/bi-baiting on shows like The Good Place, and other streaming darlings like Orange is the New Black (Netflix) and Transparent (Amazon Prime) have dipped their toes in bisexual waters, but this new Hulu show appears to be another beast completely.

The entire first season of The Bisexual drops on Hulu on November 16.
