Call for Entry: 'Start Talking. Stop HIV.' Atlanta art exhibition



In partnership with Living Walls, we will be presenting a new juried exhibition joining Artists, Activists and people living with HIV to tell the stories of Southerners living with HIV through Art. The goal of the exhibition is to illustrate the importance of those living with HIV and highlighting those views in our conversations and Art revolving around HIV/AIDS. 

The exhibition will be a part of the “Start Talking. Stop HIV.” event series by Living Walls. The opening reception will take place on August 17th at Havas’s Annex Bookstore space at 748 Marietta St NW.

Submissions are now open — please read all the details below before submitting your work!

Curator:  Emily M. Getsay: President of the Women’s Caucus for Art of Georgia, Chair of the LGBTQIA+ Caucus on the National Women’s Caucus for Art Board, Conceptual artist, and Lifetime HIV/AIDS Advocate and Art Activist.

Entries: 

  • Submit 1 to 3 images of artwork

  • No piece may exceed 40 x 40 or 8lbs 

Note: This is a Juried Exhibition. Not all work submitted will be entered into the Exhibition.

General Information

The exhibition opening is on August 17th—free of charge and open to the public.

NOTE: Some images or parts of images may be used for the invitation. If you do not wish for us to use your image, please indicate this in your submission.

Images Submission

Applicant may submit 3 images. Sculpture may include multiple views. No more than 5 images by email may be submitted. Images should be 300dpi. and no larger than 1500 x 1500 pixels. Only the artwork should be visible, no background, frames, etc. Images should be as close as possible to true image. 

Label each image file as follows: number.artistname.piece.jpg, for example, 1.sallysmith.painting.jpg. The number should correspond to the application detailing the information about the image in the description section.

Label each Image listing: First Name, Last Name, Dimensions, weight, materials, Year, artist description (each statement must be limited to 250 words)

Limitations (Please read carefully)

Work may not exceed max : Size 40” x 40 ”. If unusual hanging method is required, it must be approved by the Gallery Director. Sculpture may not exceed 8lb.

Agreement

Submitting an entry form constitutes an agreement on the part of the artist with all the conditions in the prospectus.

Insurance

The gallery, Wussy Magazine, and Emily M. Getsay do not accept liability for damages to works whilst in transit or on the premises nor its representatives will be responsible for any loss or damage whilst the works are in their possession.

Delivery & Return of Work

The artist is responsible for making arrangements for delivery of work to gallery and  from the gallery. Do not ship your work to the Gallery but to Emily M.Getsay after arranged. Email our curator directly at emily.getsay@gmail.com or call (678)427-0860 if these arrangements are needed.

Returns via shipping must provide proper packaging and postage prior to drop off of work or make necessary arrangements with another person to pick up work.

When applying, please include all information requested. This way we’ll have all the information necessary to make decisions, labels and lists. Please be advised labels are being made from this information.
